Be Well Friends

Made for two close friends that are getting ready for an adventure in early June.

Everything Kills Everything

I’ve been producing some new work for the show, and amongst the hullabaloo is a piece with a quote on it from old man in the sea which says: “Everything kills everything else in some way.” It’s pretty nuts. I’ve been thinking about that quote a lot, and also thinking about how everything also does [...]

Sketches

here are a few pull outs of some sketches. circa last week…

Symbol Ornamentation

Here are some of my favorite nautical symbols (all found in the book mentioned in my last post). Each represents something that might be found on or near the ocean…you know like bouys, mosques, buddhist temples, factories, mines, and the like. There is literally a symbol for almost anything. I’m interested in reworking these symbols [...]

Today’s Booty

Today was my day off so I did a little thrift store hopping for materials for the show (= mostly recycled:)). Some cool things in there include: 2 yards of dark blue velvet, 2 sea green drinking glasses, a few scraps of wood, some more fabric, a blue bowl, and the top of a light [...]

Doing Stuff

I generally dont really produce anything under any circumstances until the very last possible moment that i could still pull it off.  But because I should be studying for a massive exam, I decided to get a head start on myself and start making some drawings.  Im only showing a peek as to not ruin [...]

It’s Monday Again

And I’ve been thinking about doing some more physical pieces for the show, taken from childhood crafts, dioramas, and motors.

Wharfice Revisited

I visited the Wharfice for the first time this past Thursday with the rest of Yeller and, of course, I neglected to bring a camera. I returned to the spot late Sunday afternoon in order to capture the wharf’s unique atmosphere on film.

Magellan and the Techno Rave Disco Years Room

If  Magellan were alive today, he would see that only exploring on top of the ocean is pretty lame.  Why pay a King Tut’s worth of money to make a boat and pay all kinds of guys to swab stuff (what else is there to swab besides poop decks anyway) when you could simply get your [...]

Deep Thoughts (get it?)

As promised, some drawings of ideas I’ve been having. Basically exploring how we deal with uncomfortable concepts, in this case the ocean and all that it represents. More images after the jump but a few are kinda racy so beware I guess but not really, it’s just the F word basically. Oh and a weiner.
