You guys probably thought we’ve just been drinking beer in Clarke’s garage this whole time, huh. Yeah, well, that’s only partially true. Hey, are those bottles of ink I see in the background? I think they are! Is that a zine in Clarke’s hand? I don’t know, ’cause I can’t see his hands, but I think it might be!

Hong Kong born artist Victo Ngai is producing beautiful illustrations while attending the Rhode Island School of Design. Her whimsical art is brilliantly detailed and colorful. Check out her blog for additional pieces not found in her portfolio. (via Kitsune Noir)

London based Sophie Alda is cranking out some super fresh illustrations. Alda produces her work both digitally and in gouache. The results are darkly humorous and quietly terrifying, like a nightmare about Easter. Sophie is represented by illustration agency Handsome Frank. (via FormFiftyFive)

N.C. Winters hosts his first first solo show with Subtext this Friday, September 10, at 6PM. The exhibition, entitled Damages, will showcase a collection of previously unseen paintings that interpret the feelings of disrepair, sacrifice and loss wrapped in N.C.’s definitive style.

Yeller hosted is first zine swap on April 17, 2010 in the Subtext courtyard. Dubbed Paper Cuts, over eighty artists created zines to swap, share and display while over a hundred more came to partake in the celebration. The event was a great success, attracting all factions of the San Diego art community, from street artists to poets. We have since decided to make the swap a yearly event. Stay tuned to our blog or subscribe to our newsletter to find out details on our next swap in Spring 2011.

Rediscovered graphite for this particular piece. I was heavily inspired by Stephen Gammell’s illustrations for the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series, which some of  you may remember from your childhood.
