The Artist: Christy Pepper originally hails from a small town in Nova Scotia, where she grew up as an only child, communing with insects and imaginary creatures. Drawing from her past, Christy creates a macabre world of misfits and outcasts, coating them in a sticky layer of molasses and gumdrops.

The Show: For the past few months Christy has been obsessively drawing portraits. Spurred by a growing curiosity of what each portrait can reveal about a person or even what hidden torments they may possess. Her portraits say everything and nothing at all, needless to say we are obsessed with seeing what she has in store. Get weird with us next Saturday, January 14th, 6pm at Bottlecraft Beer Shop.

Yeller and Bottlecraft Beer Shop have teamed up to bring you the first in a series of residency artist installations. We’re starting things off with a bang, featuring new works by San Diego institution; director, designer and photographer Charles Bergquist. Enjoy some great beer and the company of good friends at our opening reception, Saturday, November 19th, 2011. RSVP on the Facebook event page and preview the show after the jump.

Charles’ etherial works mix landscapes and textures from the natural world to create surreal compositions that feel simultaneously foreign and familiar. His professional career has reached clients both big and small; including video and photo work for Pitchfork, Ghostly, Matthew Dear, Qualcomm, Sezio, Shilo, Bebe, Oakley, and Fuel TV to name a few.

Charles will be including a few surprises during the opening reception, including a video installation and works from his everyday series, should be loads of fun!

Yeller Studio was asked to host a screen printing workshop at the Clairemont Public Library. Lead by master screen printer, Saya Riddang, with the support of Michael, Clarke, Tyler and Lizee it turned out to be a lot of fun for kids and adults of all ages. See all the action after the jump.

N.C. Winters hosts his first first solo show with Subtext this Friday, September 10, at 6PM. The exhibition, entitled Damages, will showcase a collection of previously unseen paintings that interpret the feelings of disrepair, sacrifice and loss wrapped in N.C.’s definitive style.
