The Artist: Say hello to our little friend…Christina Liu that is. Don’t let her innocent smile fool you, she’s no stranger to the ranks of Yeller Studio, and she’s back, paint slangin’ and guns blazin’.

The Show: Good friends, distant relatives, mutual acquaintances, complete strangers; “Nice to Meet You” is either the first or last thing we ever say to some somebody. Inspired by all the people she surrounds herself, Christina’s work assembles a cast of crazed caricatures, social deviants, and macomb misfits sharing the occasional blank stare and silent pause we all know too well. Don’t be shy, come say hello to Christina and share some awkward moments with us this Saturday, May 19th, from 6pm-10pm at Bottlecraft Beer Shop.

4.21.12 / 6pm / Bottlecraft: The man, the myth, the legend, Grant Brittain, brings you a collection of his classic 1980s skate photos to Bottlecraft Beer Shop.

The Artist: No introductions needed here, Grant Brittain’s work spans several decades, from his so-cal roots shooting at the “Ranch” in the early 80′s, to his days as founding photo editor and senior photographer for TransWorld Skateboarding magazine. As diverse and dynamic as his range, Grant’s photos not only capture the raw energy of skateboarding but command immediate authenticity.

The Show: The right place at the right time, Sk80′s captures the rise of an underground movement of youth culture shot from an insider perspective. Fully immersed in the infancy of skateboarding we now know today, Grant not only shares the raw power behind the craft but candid moments with friends; including skate legends, Natas Kaupas, Mark “Gonz”, Sinisa Egelija, Hawk, and Kevin Staab to name just a few. Join Grant and the Skateboard Mag crew for an evening of fond memories, great beer and good times.

Dane’s been scribbling away like a mad man and we like what we see. Here’s a sneak peak of what’s in store for you this Saturday at Bottlecraft! A few more drool-worthy shots are waiting for you after the jump.

2.25.12 / 6pm / Bottlecraft: Start your engines. Artist, illustrator, designer and all around awesome dude, Dane Danner, has sharpened his pencil, waxed up his board, kicked the tires and lit the fires for the next artist installment at Bottlecraft Beer Shop.

The Artist: Fueled by the dirty, high-distortion sounds of old reverb amps and late 80s grunge, Dane spent his youth shredding cement and sea; skating, surfing and drawing all along the way. With loads of raw talent he honed his craft at Laguna College of Art and Design, receiving his BFA in illustration. Since then Dane has used his skills across corporate and custom design work, while continuing to drive his inner ambitions, shaping surfboards and rebuilding classic rides.

The Show: In his first solo show, Dane pulls from all the things he loves: skating, surfing, old cars and low-brow hijinks. Join us Saturday, February 25th, at 6pm for an awesome night of gnarly art, chilled brews and sick bros.

1.14.12 / 6pm / Bottlecraft: Yeller Studio and Bottlecraft Beer Shop are ringing in the new year by bringing you the second installment of the resident artist series. This time around we proudly present – Under Pressure: The works of Christy Pepper Dawson. RSVP on the Facebook event page and find out more after the jump.
The Artist: Christy Pepper originally hails from a small town in Nova Scotia, where she grew up as an only child, communing with insects and imaginary creatures. Drawing from her past, Christy creates a macabre world of misfits and outcasts, coating them in a sticky layer of molasses and gumdrops.

The Show: For the past few months Christy has been obsessively drawing portraits. Spurred by a growing curiosity of what each portrait can reveal about a person or even what hidden torments they may possess. Her portraits say everything and nothing at all, needless to say we are obsessed with seeing what she has in store. Get weird with us next Saturday, January 14th, 6pm at Bottlecraft Beer Shop.

Tag-team duo Jolby, Josh Kenyon and Colby Kichols, are back at Subtext for yet another stellar mix of paintings, drawings, wood-cuts and much more. Join the artists and friends this Friday from 6-10pm.
