Yeller returns to Subtext Gallery on Saturday August 28th at 6PM to display new, dream-themed art by Christina Liu, Clarke Forrest, Michael Tussey and Tyler Cristobal with a narrative penned by writer Richard Parubrub. After emerging from 10,000 years of slumber, the essence known as Tyler Cristobal awoke as a cloud of mist from the bowels of a National City garbage heap. In search for carne asada fries and frozen yogurt he stumbled across a pale and pudgy lad in which his spirit entered and has remained ever since. Living in the human world, Tyler has learned many of the pitfalls of man but has also learned to enjoy life’s simple pleasures like riding bikes and creating things with his pale and pudgy human hands.

When We Sleep: Time Change

The When We Sleep opening is now scheduled for 6PM August 28 rather than 7PM — one hour earlier. Another change: Mrs. Magician will sit in for Shapes of Future Frames. Read more about When We Sleep.

We’re pleased to announce that MIHO Gastrotruck will be offering their tasty wares at the opening of Yeller’s When We Sleep on August 28th. MIHO uses fresh, local, and thoughtfully-sourced ingredients to create hand-crafted street food that is affordable, convenient, and delicious. Come with an empty stomach and couple of bucks. Paper Cuts Zine Swap in Review

Yeller hosted is first zine swap on April 17, 2010 in the Subtext courtyard. Dubbed Paper Cuts, over eighty artists created zines to swap, share and display while over a hundred more came to partake in the celebration. The event was a great success, attracting all factions of the San Diego art community, from street artists to poets. We have since decided to make the swap a yearly event. Stay tuned to our blog or subscribe to our newsletter to find out details on our next swap in Spring 2011.

Massive shout outs to Subtext for providing the perfect venue, to Sezio and Holiday Matinee for spreading the word and to everyone who participated in the swap. Enjoy more event photos and video after the jump.
